When you’re shooting, nothing can replace good fundamentals of photography. To me, it’s always better to capture an image with the correct exposure, etc. than to assume you can just save it later in Photoshop. But what happens if it’s not possible to capture what your imagination sees? The above before and after images are perfect examples of that. I took this shot of Ellen and Luke on the stairway against the wall with white paint. I loved the clean lines and the balance of the composition, but wished there could be more color in the photograph. So why not paint the wall? After downloading the image onto my computer, I decided to make the wall a deep red instead. All together, it took me about 20 minutes, and while I still like the simplicity of the original image, I love the depth the color brings to the finished image. How cool is that? Tell me which you like better!
