Congratulations to Yasmine and Ali!  I met Ali last year when I had the opportunity to shoot his brother Emad’s and Israa’s wedding and was very pleased when he asked me to shoot his own wedding.  As is tradition,  the private ceremony had taken place at an earlier date and we were now there for the public celebration of their wedding.  I commented on this before, but I have to say again how struck I was by the strong feeling of family and close knit community.  It was definitely a whole hearted celebration!

We started at Yasmine’s uncle’s house were she got ready:

Yasmine’s father is overseas and wasn’t able to be there for the wedding in person, so they had a Skype connection with him on this laptop with audio and video so he could still be a part of the day:

Once we arrived at the Raleigh Hilton where the reception was being held, we headed upstairs to their guest room for some portraits:

Then it was back downstairs for their introduction and first dance.  The light in this image is from the videographer’s camera:

The majority of the reception, the men and women were in separate ballrooms.  Here’s a shot from the men’s side:

At one point in the evening, they took a table cloth off one of the tables and used it to throw people up in the air.  Here’s a shot of Ali:

These little guys are Yasmine’s cousins from Texas.  They actually did really well staying awake all night, but I caught this moment of downtime:
